What do you do at Colgate?
I manage the actual and estimated accounting closing process of the Latin American division, which involves a variety of accounting and finance issues. In addition, I interact with Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit and other departments. I also work on special projects, such as acquisitions, restructuring, corporate policies, financial structure re-engineering and general finance issues.
Why did you join Colgate?
I was attracted to Colgate because it is one of the most internationally diverse companies in the United States. I also wanted to work in a global consumer products company where I could get exposure to many different areas of business. Colgate is a well-regarded company with a recognized name, a good reputation and a positive image.
What have been your most interesting projects or opportunities?
In 1999, during the financial crisis in Brazil, we went there to provide support to the local Colgate finance team. We helped them react promptly to a very drastic change in economic environment. We assessed the financial structure of the company and made recommendations to reduce the company exposure to further devaluation and to prevent additional economic losses.
