It's easy to keep wood floors looking their best with regular care and preventive maintenance.
- Vacuum or dustmop wood floors daily. Gritty dust can scratch wood surfaces.
- Place walkoff mats or quarter-inch masonite panels at exterior doorways and in high-traffic areas to catch dirt and grit.
- Kitchen floors see more traffic than most any other room. Place rugs or mats in front of the stove and sink to prevent excess wear.
- To prevent wood from cracking, use a humidifier in dry winter months and a dehumidifier in humid weather, in conjunction with heating or air conditioning.
- Never let wood get wet or soaked! Mop up spills right away.
- Occasionally damp-mop wood floors. Be sure the mop is clean and carefully wrung out. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe up any excess.
- Clean floors regularly with Murphy® Oil Soap diluted in a bucket according to directions.
- For added convenience, use Murphy Just Squirt & Mop once a week or more. No mixing or diluting is necessary.
